Devils Den Farm
A Homestay Bed & Breakfast

We welcome you to the Devil's Den Farm, located in picturesque Chelsea. Our classic New England farmhouse was built in 1921 by the Gilman's, Rhoda's grandparents. In fact, we are the fourth generation of our family to live here, and our roots run deep in the area as we are seventh generation Chelsea residents.

The front porch is lined with flower boxes and rocking chairs, providing a relaxing atmosphere to give you a chance to escape to an earlier, simpler time in Vermont's history. Grammy Gilman served her ten children afternoon snacks from her rocking chair on this very porch.

Make yourself at home shared space includes a sitting room for visiting, reading, playing board games, and watching TV. Our large country kitchen is the perfect place to enjoy a continental breakfast, complete with pure Vermont maple syrup made by our family.

Upstairs, you will find a double-bed suite and two other double-bed rooms. Each is furnished with antique beds covered with handmade quilts. Hand-woven rag rugs are scattered across polished hardwood floors. Each room also features a clock radio, air conditioner, and private bathroom with shower. (Please no pets or smoking within any of our buildings.)

Stroll around our 65 acres of fields, pastures, and woods. Picnic and fish along the First Branch of the White River, or hike the wooded trail to the Devil's Den Cave located in the ledges behind the homestead. Admire Bill's restored antique tractors, and the frequent visits of a large flock of wold turkeys. Historic Chelsea Village (settled in 1784) is within walking distance with access to a diner, pub, fitness center, post office, bank, library, and country stores. Chelsea Village, with classic New England atmosphere, features twin commons the north common graced by the white steeple of The United Church, and the south common presided over by the Orange County Courthouse. Our local area has several historic covered bridges and miles of dirt roads ideal for biking, horseback riding (horse trailers welcome) or car touring.

Deer hunters are welcome in season. In winter, you can snowshoe, cross-country ski, or go sledding on ungroomed snow. We have easy access to the V.A.S.T. snowmobile trail network. Bring your trailer and snowmobiles, we've plenty of parking space. Visit the Rockwood Christmas Tree Farm just four miles down the road.
